NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The City of North Myrtle Beach invites the community to celebrate the groundbreaking of the future Central Park Pickleball Complex, located on Possum Trot Road. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 25, at 9:30 AM followed by the Pickleball with the Stars event at 10 AM at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center.
The new complex will feature 15 pickleball courts, including a covered championship court, a small clubhouse with restrooms, vending, office space, and open lawn seating for spectators. The total estimated project cost is $6.5 million.
Mayor Marilyn Hatley shared her excitement for the project, “This complex represents the best of what makes North Myrtle Beach so special. We are a community that comes together to create something lasting. Pickleball has grown tremendously here, and this facility will serve residents and visitors for generations to come.”
This major recreational investment reflects a shared commitment between the City and its residents to expand opportunities for active living. Community members played a vital role in helping bring the championship area to life through dedicated fundraising and support.
Director of Parks & Recreation, Matt Gibbons, emphasized the project’s importance for recreation and community connection, “The Central Park Pickleball Complex is more than just a place to play. It’s a place for people to gather, compete, and build friendships. We’re proud to continue expanding quality recreational opportunities for our community.”
The groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for North Myrtle Beach Parks & Recreation as the City continues to invest in spaces that encourage health, wellness, and togetherness.
