NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Beach Nourishment across the North Strand has officially begun. The United States Army Corps of Engineers started offshore equipment mobilization this past weekend on November 15. Other types of mobilization will continue to take place throughout the month of November and December, with the dredge set-up starting December 11 and continuing through December 15. On December 15, you will begin to see work starting on the North End, with work ending in February of 2026. Please note all dates are subject to slight modifications.
Please note the contractor will utilize the Sea Mountain Hwy street end (old Pelican Motel site) as an equipment staging area. Please be aware of the progress and equipment mobilization as you near the Sea Mountain Hwy street end (old Pelican Motel site) during the mobilization periods.
The City appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during this important project to enhance shoreline resistance and protect our beaches. Updates and additional information will be provided as work progresses.
