North Myrtle Beach September 11 Ceremony

9.11 Memorial Service Small

You are invited to participate in a September 11 memorial service at the Horseshoe on Main Street. This year marks the 21st anniversary of September 11. 


6:30 pm – Rolling Thunder Grand Strand SC 3, escorted by North Myrtle Beach Public Safety down Main Street towards Ocean Blvd. Flag Bearers will line Main Street to Ocean Boulevard.

 

6:45 pm – Quintet – NMB Community Band - (15 minutes of music) as color guards and wreath bearers take position. 


Color Guards and Wreath Bearers:

  • Public Safety color guard
  • Wreath and bearers – Chief of Police, Tommy Dennis and Fire Chief, Garry Spain
  • Coastal Carolina Pipes and Drums color guard
  • FDNY Retirees color guard
  • NMB JROTC color guard
  • American Legion Honor Guard

 

7:00 pm - The Master of Ceremony, Nils Regnell, will recognize the following participants:

  • Rolling Thunder
  • Color Guards:
  • Public Safety color guard
  • Wreath bearers – Chief of Police, Tommy Dennis, and Fire Chief, Garry Spain
  • FDNY Retirees color guard
  • NMB JROTC color guard

7:10 - Invocation from NMB Public Safety Chaplain, Jay Ortiz

  

7:12 – Marlisa Small to sing The Star-Spangled Banner. Also Musical Hands of the Grand Strand Pledge of Allegiance.

 

7:15 – Welcome and Remarks from North Myrtle Beach Mayor, Marilyn Hatley.

  

7:25 – Coastal Carolina Shields Pipes and Drums plays Amazing Grace.

  

7:30 – Wreath Presentation/Blessing of the Wreath – Chaplain Ortiz.

 

7:35 - Master of Ceremonies, Nils Regnell will acknowledge the following groups:

  • NMB Lions Club (Co-Sponsor)
  • City of NMB (Co-Sponsor) and their various departments sanitation, public safety (police and fire), administration, and Park and Recreation
  • Jay’s at Little River (Main Street Flags)
  • Buds & Blooms Floral Shop from Longs, SC (creation and donation of the memorial wreath.)
  • The Sign Station (Donation of 9-11 banners)
  • NMB Times (Event Advertising)
  • Dave Howard and the North Myrtle Beach Community Band (Event music)


The Ceremonies will conclude with four Five Bells and Taps played by the NMB Community Band. FDNY Retired Battalion Chief, Bill Blaich, will transmit the 5-5-5-5 signal.


Marlisa Small and the Musical Hands of the Grand Strand will sing God Bless America.
