Chief Huber began his fire service career in 2004 as a volunteer with the Lawrenceville Fire Company in Lawrence Twp., NJ. He then moved to Prince George’s County, Maryland, and was a live-in firefighter at College Park Volunteer Fire Company. In 2007, he moved back to NJ to take a job as a Police/Fire/EMS dispatcher for the Princeton Borough Police Department. It was in 2008 he moved to Surfside Beach and then accepted a job with the City of North Myrtle Beach as a Firefighter/EMT. He has worked at all of the city stations during that time, spending the most time on Truck 1 at Fire Station 1. Through the years, he served as a Firefighter/EMT, Engineer, Lieutenant, Logistics Captain, and now Division Chief of Support Services.
He holds IFSAC certifications in Fire Officer 1 & 2, Fire Instructor, Firefighter 1 & 2, amongst several others. He also holds various EVT certifications, including Fleet Management Supervisor 1 & 2.
He is responsible for, or oversees, the purchase of almost every piece of equipment the Fire Department uses, along with any Fire Department construction projects. He has the most passion for the design and build of all of the custom fire apparatus the city purchases.
When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.
