- Junior Lifeguard Program
NMBOR Junior Lifeguards are youth ages 9-15 who love being in and around the water. During this camp, participants will learn beach safety, First Aid and CPR, and basic water rescue skills. Every day during the camp, Junior Lifeguards will engage in fun physical challenges and participate in team activities as they learn about how to keep themselves and others safe around the ocean. The camp is taught by Beach Patrol Officers and highly trained ocean lifeguards. Junior Lifeguards will have the opportunity to shadow real lifeguards as well. Details about this year's shadowing program will be released at the beginning of camp.
Our Winter 2023 camp is now open for registration! Please come to the front desk of the NMB Aquatic and Fitness Center to sign up.
There will be one camp this winter, which will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week from January 23-March 14. Tuesday sessions will take place at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center from 4:30-6:00pm, and Thursday sessions will meet at the pool at the NMB Aquatic Center from 6:30pm-8:00pm.
We want to make sure all participants have a safe and fun time. Participants who have been on a swim team or who have completed the Junior Lifeguard camp before do not need to do this swim test. New participants are asked to do a 50 yard, untimed swim test to demonstrate strong basic swim skills. Drop in between 1-2pm at the NMB Aquatic and Fitness Center pool on January 20th for this swim test.
Check back in the spring for information regarding our Shadowing program that accompanies our Summer Junior Lifeguard Camps.
