
The K9 Unit consists of multiple dedicated K9 Teams utilized for scent detection of Drugs and explosives and for tracking fugitives and missing people. K9 Teams certify annually and must maintain a minimum of 16 documented training hours a month. Our K9 teams assist all divisions in the police department and assist outside agencies. To be a K9 Handler in the City of North Myrtle Beach, you must be an officer in good standing, have a desire to train regularly, be a proactive officer, and understand the important role K9s have in public relations.
