Introducing Daycations with North Myrtle Beach!

Are you ready to hop in the Parks and Recreation van with us and visit some cities in the Carolinas? Then Daycations is the program for you. Each month we will be visiting a new city, festival, or attraction to get you out and seeing the beautiful Carolinas through our Daycation Destinations. Our trips are limited to a small group, as we use the Parks and Recreation van to keep costs down.

We will start the day at the Bellamy Mansion in Wilmington, NC with a 90 min. Premium Tour at noon. The property includes the main house, the slave quarters, and the formal garden. The Bellamy Mansion was designed by architect James F. Post for the wealthy physician and merchant Dr. John D. Bellamy. The 10,000-square-foot, twenty-two room mansion was constructed primarily by skilled, enslaved workers and local, free black artisans between 1859 and 1861. On the northeast corner of the lot stands the original two-story brick slave quarters. Eliza Harriss Bellamy, wife of Dr. John D. Bellamy, began planning and planting her formal garden sometime after the end of the Civil War. We will have the opportunity to see all of these areas on the tour or afterward. This tour does include stairs, so please make sure you are able to complete the tour.

After our tour and time to do some additional exploring at Bellamy Mansion, we will depart for Carolina Beach. Our final tour of the day is a tasting & history tour. We will be visiting a 5-6 different restaurant locations on our tour. The tour includes a full meal, a red and white wine sample, and dessert. We will be learning about the history of the island and the Carolina Beach town. Our tasting & history tour will begin at 3 pm and will conclude around 5:15 pm. We will depart from Carolina Beach at 5:30 pm and arrive at J. Bryan Floyd Community Center around 7:15 pm.

Registration will open on Thursday, January 12th at 10 am.
